FROZEN SHOULDER
Frozen shoulder (adhesive capsulitis) is a condition in which the capsule that holds the shoulder joint together becomes stuck and does not allow movement of the joint. In this situation, most of the soft tissues of the shoulder will develop, or will have already developed adhesions, further restricting motion. This is often seen following many surgical procedures of the shoulder after being immobilized for a period of time. Treatment Treatment consists of functional soft tissue therapy (A.R.T.) and stretching in order to break adhesions and restore range of motion. A stringent rehabilitation must be followed to develop neurological and muscular control of the joint, and to strengthen the stabilizing muscles. Joint manipulation is important to allow free motion and function in the cervical and thoracic spine.
