LOW BACK PAIN
|
|
Low back pain has many different causes. Conditions associated with low back pain include herniated discs, sciatica, sprain/strains, muscle spasms, osteoarthritis, joint dysfunction, spondylolisthesis, stenosis, sacroiliac pain and muscle stiffness. Often there is a combination of things that will lead to these conditions including poor posture, poor movement mechanics, repetitive stress, weak core muscles, prolonged sitting and poor movement in the hip and ankle. For example, if the hip is not extending correctly due to tight hip flexors and weak gluteal muscles, muscles in the low back will have to overwork in order to achieve the movement. Over time, this repetitive stress will cause the overloaded tissue to be injured. This is why it is important to determine the actual cause of the problem, and not just treat the symptom. |
